Synopsis
In A Ciambra, a small Roman community in Calabria, Pio Amato can’t wait to become an adult. At the age of 14, he already drinks, smokes and is one of the few that mingles easily with the diverse groups in the region: the local Italians, the African refugees and a group of Romani gypsies. Pio tries to mirror his older brother Cosimo, with whom he learns how to survive in the streets of his hometown. When Cosimo disappears, Pio sees an opportunity to prove his maturity, but soon finds himself facing a decision that will put everything to the test. Awarded at the 2017 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight.
